Strumming those Major & minor chords all the time becomes boring ... right ?
Today I've come up with 4 spooky chords to demonstrate & discuss . Theses chords are made all at the open position for the sake of simplicity of learning & understanding.
Before hopping into the chords, i will try to give you a bit of the ideas & fact behind creating haunting (tensed!) sounds on an instrument.
There is an interval-"flatted fifth" also known as haunted interval in music .. In all of my chord shapes you can find that interval working actively.
so basically a root with its corresponding flat5 note is required for the tension.
Let's take an example with the first shape .
1. Shape 1 : (reproduced from E minor)
If you watch this diagram this looks like E minor chord but the two notes E & B on 4th & 5th string are flattened .
This B flat makes a flat5 note w.r.t to the root of E minor i.e. E.
Also the note E flat at 4th string generating a conflict with the root & giving a healthy bit of spookiness.
Thus similar intervals can be found on my other 3 shapes .
I have sorted them in the ascending order of spookiness/tension.
2. Shape 2 :
3. Shape 3 :
4. 4th Shape :
